Westchester Mediation Center

The Westchester Mediation Center was established as a part of Cluster in 1984. The Center is part of the Community Dispute Resolution Center Program of the New York State Unified Court System’s Office of Alternative Dispute Resolution. We offer dispute resolution services to residents, organizations and communities of Westchester County. These services promote understanding through improved communication and empower parties to make their own decisions and develop ways to implement their own resolutions. Our areas of service include Community Dispute Resolution, Custody Visitation Mediation, Eviction Prevention, Restorative Justice Initiative (group conferencing and delinquency prevention) and School Mediation.

During mediation, participants discuss areas of disagreement before a trained, neutral mediator, and work towards a resolution that works for each of them. The mediator assists the parties in clarifying issues, exploring options, and crafting agreements. It is a voluntary and confidential process that can be used to prevent further escalation of a conflict, as an alternative to court proceedings, or simply to build understanding and improve relationships.

All services at the Westchester Mediation Center are provided either free of charge or based on a sliding scale.
