CLUSTER focuses its efforts on assisting community youth through an after-school school program called the Super School that provides academic enrichment and a summer day camp.

Today CLUSTER provides academic support in after-school programs at four locations in Southwest Yonkers . Our middle school Culinary Arts Program teaches the art of food preparation to students while also helping students to improve their reading and math skills. CLUSTER’S summer camp continues to serve over 100 children in a well-supervised, enriching, educational environment. For over five years, we have been serving adolescents through a youth development program called Study Buddies. Our intergenerational work with seniors and youth has provided nutrition and fitness information and computer advocacy skills while forming valuable relationships for both groups. Youth and Family Programs now also includes a Weed and Seed initiative in Public Housing and a facilitated enrollment program for NYS Insurance Programs Child Health Plus and Family Health Plus.

Results

• Each year a significant number of children from Southwest Yonkers receive homework assistance and enrichment in the after-school programs.
• More than 100 children experience a safe, fun-filled summer camp annually.
• The Study Buddy program has graduated over 100 students and over 90% of them have continued their education beyond high school.
