A Study Buddy for 4 years. Attending Bucknell University on a full Track And Field Scholarship, Fall, 2006. Also accepted to The University Of Albany. Named a “Black Scholar” by the Black Scholars Community Partnership.
JOSEPH WATERS, Yonkers High School A Study Buddy for 4 years. Attending Virginia State University, Fall, 2006. Majoring in Chemistry, also accepted to Morgan State University, SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Albany, SUNY Oswego, University of Albany, Delaware State University, Buffalo State University, Florida Technical University and Clark Atlanta University. Joseph received scholarships from Virginia State University, Delaware State Unviersity, the Yonkers Pta, The Key Club, The Dodson Scholarship Fund, Youth Theatre Interactions, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. named a “Black Scholar” by The Black Scholars Community Partnership.
SINDY BALIS-MERCEDES, Yonkers High School
A Study Buddy for 4 years, will attend City College, Fall, 2006. Majoring in Medical Sciences. also accepted to SUNY Buffalo. Placed 3rd in the New York State Spanish Competition and received The Club 90 Award for maintaining an average of 90 or more throughout her high school career.
The CLUSTER Study Buddy Program has been in operation for more than ten years. It provides opportunities for adolescents in Southwest Yonkers to develop competencies that promote academic success and eventual self-sufficiency by employing a variety of intervention strategies. It has been recognized by the National Crime Research Center as a model for gang prevention.
